Since we are a store that operates day-to-day without money (for the most part), it goes largely without saying that we rely upon our community to provide many things on a volunteer basis. Volunteering at the store is just one way to help out community, stop by, fill out an application to take a shift or let us know what you would like to do to help.
We also are grateful for donations, both of household items and of cash. We accept most household and office items at the the store, but have several restrictions. Read more about what we accept and don't accept here.
Monetary donations keep our doors open. You can make one time donations at the store through our donation jar, or on-line through the Transition Town donation page where you can make one-time or recurring donations through Paypal or with a credit card. Recurring monthly donations helps us get that much closer, every month, to making rent ($500.00) and overhead expenses (estimated at $100/month). You can use the button at the bottom of this page to make donations through the website.

Other types of support are so very important:
- We are relying on people in our community to help us market the store, get the word out, speak to reporters and magazines about what we are doing, help us design and produce marketing materials (like brochures, hand-outs, etc.)
- We also want to hold regular events for volunteers and our community, fun days where we can gather and get to know one another. We need volunteers to help organize these events (and any others you can dream up.)
- Are you a grant-writer? Do you know how to find resources for non-profits? We are a 501c3 and could use this type of help at any time.
- Do you like working with people and meeting others in Media? Help coordinate the volunteers at the FreeStore and meet everyone who has donated their time and energy to keeping our doors open.
- Do you know people who are using re-used items for things? If you can help us responsibly recycle materials in the Store that have overstayed their welcome, that would be very useful. Do you want to help gather books for donation to the Library? Take toys to shelters? Find a home for old VHS's? We need your creative skills.
- Do you feel called to create a weekly story-time for children at the Store? We want people to feel the space is a soft and comfortable place to land while on State Street, and anything you can do to enhance that part of our mission is a gift indeed.
