"Thank you to whomever is donating things to the Media Free Store.. I plan on donating some things also... Our budget leaves zero left most months... It was a gift seeing rows of books... some gently used and many almost new and watching my son happily take home a stack... Thank you... I'm sure somedays that store will be stuffed with things... and others empty... Meaning stuff will go quick... It's a blessing to walk in an see something you need there but cannot afford to buy... I'm going to find out about the clothing donation and food bank place behind it... Even on our budget we can always buy a few food items here and there to donate to help someone in need... Thank you again to those who came up with the idea of this store... and to those who donate or work in anyway to keep it going... Wonderful idea!"
"Stopped in today to drop off a couple of items and some coupons. What wonderful, warm and friendly people there! As usual, everyone greets you with a warm smile and lovely conversation. What a wonderful place!"
On Sunday I stopped by. It was really on a whim as I had only been to the store once before. I turned to look at the glasses. I noticed a set of three Irish coffee glasses. I was so excited but then my excitement turned to amazement - the glasses were from the Buena Vista in San Francisco. I just returned from my first trip to San Fran on Friday and on my visit stopped by the Buena Vista for an Irish coffee! It was destiny for me to go to the store that day. Thank you to the person who donated them and to all the people that make the Free Store such a magical place.
"I met a new volunteer on Friday night at the FreeStore who said that for a long time she has been wanting Media to be the way it used to be--everybody knowing each other, knowing all the owners of the stores, a real sense of community. She said we're doing a good job of bringing that back."
"Another great day at the Freestore! Lots of new faces and expressions of wonder!! Busy, busy day!"
"I learned a lot here, specially in our nice community, I learned to give give and give with no fear, because when I need something I'm sure I will find it!!!!"
"Just want to say I found you after a bad day and want to say thank you. I found a bright bird house that put a smile on my face."
What fun! Today I dropped off three boxes of things. In years past, when I dropped items off at the good will, I barely spoke to anyone. Today, I dropped off my donations at the store and spend 45 minutes or so talking and visiting with members of my community. What a blessing! Thanks for the free store, a place where your money is no good.
"I just want to say this place is amazing !! Went there for the first time today with my mom, dad, fiancé, and my son, and the volunteer who was there was so sweet. My dad found an awesome Roman war helmet for my brother, my mom found a few little decorations for the house, and we found my son a tambourine that he's in love with and also a little stuffed puppy he loves. Will definitely be going back for more !!"
"I want to share this story to say thank you! Yesterday I brought my four and one year old into the store, I did not tell my four year old anything about the store as I like her to form her own thoughts about things. She truly enjoyed playing with the toys. In playing she found a princess learn how to write book and when it was time to go I told her she could bring that home with us. She was so excited, I think she said thank you to anyone she could, not understanding how we could come out of a store with something but not pay for it. When we left I explained to her that people bring their old things to the store that they don't need anymore for other people to use, just like we did. That was the last we talked about it till seven hours later when her grandmother called her on Skype and she showed her the princess book. When she was asked where she got it she said she went to this store where everyone SHARES their stuff, it was so sweet of the world. Out of the mouths of babes! So now in my household you will be the "sharing store" thank you!"
